Matthew Thompson, PT graduated from Ithaca College in 1991. In his 20+ year career, he has worked in a University trauma center, a skilled nursing facility, a rehab hospital and was the owner of his own orthopedic physical therapy clinic. These varied settings afforded him exposure to many different types of caseloads; from pediatrics to geriatrics, neurological injuries to sports medicine.
Joining SOAR in 2013, Matthew complements the interdisciplinary team approach providing thorough physical therapy evaluation and treatments. Skilled in manual therapy techniques and an expert at facilitating dormant core musculature, your rehab needs will be well attended to in the SOAR physical therapy department.
SOAR Physical Therapy
SOAR physical therapy is part of the interdisciplinary team treating acute, chronic and intractable pain staying dedicated to your complete health and well-being. The physical therapy department helps our patients improve upon flexibility, strength, functional mobility and tasks of everyday living. You will be thoroughly evaluated by expert physical therapists. A plan of care, with appropriate goals, will be customized for you. The treatment plan will be delivered in the clinic and accompanied by a complete home exercise program.
The therapists are well versed and highly trained to treat patients with neck injuries, back injuries, neurologic disorders, vestibular/balance dysfunction, athletic injuries, motor vehicle accident injuries and workplace injuries.
The physical therapy department is the home of the durable medical equipment at SOAR. If any braces, canes or other home use equipment is ordered, the physical therapy department will ensure proper set up, fitting and instruction in use.
